Come and try out a wonderful way to play with form, line and repeat patterns. During this class we will focus on the technique known as Foldforming. This was of working is very similar to origami but when using metal material designs can stretch and bend in ways paper can not developed by Charles Lewton Brain.

You will be using various hammers and stakes using folding, raising and sinking techniques to form your work. It would be helpful if you are comfortable with annealing copper with a torch but total beginners are welcome.

During the workshop you will make either a series of maquette studies for future exploration or a piece of jewellery or small object d’art. It is recommended to work in sheet copper first and then in silver if that is your wish.

What is included?

· A small copper square and tools are provided on the day. You will need bring any additonal material you want to use. The 2x2 inch piece of copper will be provided for you to get started by making a maquette but you will likey want to bring in more to work in. Anything between 0.80mm -1.5mm is best to start off in copper, brass, silver or argentium.

· Handout to take home and use for future designing

· Refreshments of tea, coffee and biscuits.
