Lancaster Maritime Museum School trip

I was so excited to have the chance to organise the very first Rachel Hearne Jewellery School trip to our local the Lancaster Maritime Museum for a private view of Hoard of Hoards and curated talk by both Rachael Edmonds and Rachael Roberts of Lacaster City Museums. They enthusiastically presented us with items that are in the archive collection but are not currently on display. Rachel built the talk around how jewellery has been used over the ages for displays of weath, religion, alliances, beliefs and politics. We went from a Neolithic boar tusk pendant found in Warton to a beautifully enamelled gold brooch showing David and Goliath and more. It was very intereresting and everyone really enjoyed the experience. We will be arranging another in 2025 but to the Lancaster City Museum .

The museum holds many jewellery related items found locally and donated over the years. If you are interested in jewellery history please visit the musuems here in Lancaster there is so much to see.
