This autumn we had the pleasure of hosting a Intro to Gemmology workshop with Stuart Pool of Nineteen48. He came along and brought so much information about ethical and artisinal mining methods and practices for us. It was really interesting to hear about Tanzanian Women Miners' Association (TAWOMA) activity and produts.

His presentation introduced the basics about geologial history of minerals forming, how these minerals a valued and graded and how they are distributed and cut from rough. There is so much to learn and think about everyone went away with alot to think about and explore further.

On the Sunday Stuart brought a fantastic selection fo gemstones for us to view and purchase. The feed back was that we need another date for 2025! We really enjoyed handling some exceptional rough and cut gems ….the HUGE Aquamarine was a real hit.
